History

Wine and taste for connoisseurs.

On the enterance of the restaurant "Hadjidraganovite izbi" (Hadjidraganov's cellars) you can find yourself surrounded by the traditional atmosphere established by the stone walls and the barrels next to them.

The legend of a man Hadjidragan lies on the basis of the beautiful houses, to which he organised the upbuilding using architecture from places Koprivshtitsa, Jeravna, Bansko and Melnik.. There was a cellar where wine had been gathered from different parts of the country, which nowadays is a restaurant Hadjidraganovite izbi in the center of Sofia.

Hadjidraganov's cellar was famous for its variety of wine for every taste. Fall is when Hadji Dragan would sample dozens of wines and personally choose the most tastefull ones. Not many were the privileged who could visit the refridgirating dungeons, just because he jealously hid his workmanship. That's why it was a great honor for guests to visit to the marvelous celarrs.

Silence, chill and smell of an old wine would greet our guests. In the dusk among the kerosene lamps, the barrels would appear arranged in long straight lines, while on the dusty shelves littered with straw would calmly lie the bottles.

Hadjidraganovite izbi offers dishes made on plate , fire or oven, with which ever bulgarian could be proud of. The menu contains selected Bulgarian meals of lamb meat (georgian lamb made on plate), pork meat ("Mehandjiiski djolan" - knuckle), gingerbread sofras served on wooden carved plates (balkan grill for four, voivodska sofra), delicious deserts (homemade biscuit cake), fresh salad and more than 60 other different trays . The menu is given in wooden carved covers.

For the good company we offer bulgarian wine, rich choise of alcoholic drinks carefully picked out from connvisseurs, while the folklore music will remind us of our roots and ancestors.
